Ken Heaton was working at the Kennecott Copper mine when a neighbor came to him for help with a roofing job. Ken did such an excellent job, that he recommended Ken for the same type of work to another. The news traveled and he quickly learned that roofing was a fast-growing industry full of opportunity. Within a couple of years, he was a licensed roofer in the state of Utah. In 1958, Ken took a leap of faith and founded his own roofing business in the heart of Salt Lake City, Utah.
The family business would quickly become a family legacy. The three Heaton brothers grew up on rooftops, each taking on different regions of the business. Dennis, the middle brother, brought in his sons and eventually bought out his brothers and took on ownership. Today, Heaton Bros.
